AI vs Creators

No matter how AI advances, there would always be a fulfilment that comes from creating.

Yes, AI could generate an instrumental, a song, or anything, and even sound soulful and emotional, but it can't give me that uplift that comes when I lay my hands on the piano, close my eyes, even in the dark, and let the sound form note by note without having to think. Yes, the finished piece could be beautiful and touching, but that's not what gives me uplifting. It's those minutes when I'm present, in the moment, putting my fingers on each note, unsure of what note comes next, or even what it may sound like. The creative process is my fulfilment and not the finished sound.

Or maybe I'm on the Recorder, blowing notes, and creating a tune I have never heard until that moment when the sound comes. My eyes are closed, the room is dark, but the melody flows - so beautifully, so soulfully. The sounds come from the depth of my heart. All my longings, desires, angers, happies, coagulating, finding expression in the notes, as I close each hole, open another, or maybe close the next halfway. That moment when I get to let it all out. That moment when i get to let it flow. That moment when I hear what my emotions sound like without premeditation. Nobody can give me that. No product can do that for me. The peace, the joy, the uplift...

Or when I stare at a blank board on my laptop. My DAW is in the default setting. Blank, nothing preset. And I pick an instrument, create a melody, a bassline, a loop, anything - first, then layer sounds over and over. I create something, seemingly out of nothing. I create something tangible, out of nothing. It blows my mind each time. Sometimes, I take hours to listen to instrumentals and beats I have mixed over the years and just marvel at how they became THAT. It doesn’t even matter to me whether people hear them as much. (Of course, I want you to), but the process beats my mind every time. And the starting point is just never the same.

What does this instrument even sound like? Ah, I liked this person's song oo? What if I experimented with this genre and this other genre? I've never heard something like it before. Creation starts in the most random way. The process takes a 'life' of its own. It just goes and keeps going until it gets to a point and says: "Well, this is something." How? Creativity and Creation are personal. AI can make songs, beats, and instrumentals, but it won't give me this experience. Of course, consumers or listeners might have a different view, but creators enjoy creating art no matter how painstaking it may be. Because the fulfillment isn’t in the output, but in the process.

Or should I talk about design? Of course, the internet is flooded with AI designs now. Whether you like it or not, in many cases, it's efficient, effective and economic - Value for money. You can get a lot done with little or no cost with AI. But even at that, for the creator - the graphics designer, the ability to put shapes together, test colours, styles, fonts, and all manner of things, is a beautiful process. Then after the process, they revel and stand in awe of their work. How so? I created this. Wow. Most people would never understand this feeling. But its fine.

Add other creative activities - coding, tailoring, styling, painting, drawing, writing, and so on. Anything that gives you the privilege to create something tangible from something intangible - an idea, a thought, a vision, a dream... something non-physical. It's first a blessing to the creator before the consumers. So, AI or not, this process would remain to exist forever. I could go on and not. Talk of the business of it, and more. But let's end here.
